Roman Pantry

Penns Grove – Carneys Point NJ

Bruce Willis Sightings

without comments

It is well known that Bruce Willis always shuffles over to the Roman Pantry in Carneys Point when he makes a pilgrimage back to the “Grove“.    Sometime he heads further south and orders a things or two from the Italian Kitchen in Pennsville.  He knows that at both of these fine eating establishments he can find his favorites of the Teramo Province of Abruzzo including ‘ndocca ‘ndocca, mazarelle, spaghetti all chitarra and, on special occasions, the most cherished dish of all — the famous Timballo Teramo.

Unfortunately not of the best quality, below is the only known picture claimed to depict Marianne Di Marco feeding a slice of her authentic Italian-style pizza to Bruce on one of his many sojourns to the area.  Ravioli dolci were soon to follow.  If Marianne’s memory serves her well, Bruce ordered a peperoni pizza on this memorable day.  One of the workers at the Roman Pantry claimed she would definitely Die Hard if Bruce did not relent to giving her his autograph.   An autograph it was but perhaps more cherished is the slice of pizza showing Bruce’s teeth imprints that remained as our friend headed to the Riverwalk on Pitman Street for his next engagement of the day.  Way to go Brutus!!

Sept 2009 – Although there is an element of sadness in his trip, Bruce manages to put on a smile as he reconnects with the Di Marco family, proprietors of South Jersey’s famous Italian Kitchen and Roman Pantry. Rumors abound that Bruce tries to talk Marianne into coming to New York to open a sub, pizza and more importantly, a cheesesteak emporium. Marianne sees green, Gino sees red, and plans are put on hold. More to follow…
